Getting photos in Googles image search

it takes time, like everything

One of the sites I manage has about half of it's gallery on Google images.

(uses Gallery2, and mod-rewite, and is heavily linked in from different parts of the site)

but it did take about 4 months to appear in Google images.

it's also in MSN images too.
 
mine seemed to appear quite quick whereas others have taken a while. May be a stupid question but have you turned on picture indexing in your google account?

Have I what? :S I've added a sitemap (which is updated every month) to my webmaster tools account, where is the bit to specify picture indexing?
 
Yes there is go into your account then web master tools, then select your site, then under diagnostics go to enhanced image search.

I dont know if thats how you specifically get them indexed but mine started coming up after i had selected that.
 
On my old site, all my images got indexed, and I did nothing to get them in google, just had a fairly unique site name I guess as a search for my site name returned my gallery almost entirely for the first 3-4 pages of results
