Anyone got pick in a game beta before? I must have applied for like 5 games, the only one I had was the paid AoC open beta. how do you increase your chance? quite fancy trying Jumpgate and Stargate...

I believe some use questionnaires to select a broard range of different types of gamers (how many hours/week you play, how many games per year you buy etc). I would assume they get more hardcore fans as applicants so you would have more chance of being picked if you say you don't play many games.

Seems to be down to luck, having said that there does seem to be trends of some kind. For instance, I have been picked for the closed betas of EQ2, AC2, SWG, LoTRO, Lineage 2, Earth and Beyond, WoW, AoC and Warhammer Online. In fact, I cant think of the last MMO that I applied for that I didnt get into the beta.

Never tried applying for anything other than an MMO beta though, so dont know what would happen if I did that.

out of sheer luck i got picked for the bf2142 beta, only one ive ever applied for on a whim. Game was ********, didnt buy it :)

I was on the Test Drive Unlimited Beta. May as well have just been labelled a server stress test as the game came out with pretty much no changes in the final release.

I just answerd the questions honestly, got invited into the EVE online one (my favorite beta ever :) ) City of Heros, Saga of Ryzom (Rubbish) & Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. From what I can remember they were the only ones I've applied for. Guess its just pot luck really.

To be honest if you want to get into a Beta

Be female, have no intrest in gaming hardcore, and say this will be the first time you've played the game.

:)

I've been in a few in my time, but the easiest way to be sure I've found is to actually get involved with the community (particularly if the developers are actively involved/monitoring the community). That way ensured me early alpha/beta access to Eve :)

Applied for 2 beta's AC2 and EQ2. Got into both, AC2 was kinda by default EQ2 probably had something to do with me an EQ whore for years.

AC2 sucked, didn't buy it. Like EQ2 so ended up buying it and levelling to 30 before I got bored with MMORPG's completely - haven't played one since..... was like shedding an addiction
