I have £400 to spend at the moment and want to spend it on a pc before the VAT goes up. My last build was a few years ago with a Q6600 but i sold that and got a laptop, wish i didn't :(

So far i have

Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower Case
Antec TruePower New Modular 650W
Corsair Hydro H50/H70 - Will this fit 1155?
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB

That comes to just over £300 so what should i spend the other on?

From what I have herd the coolers should fit as the mount for the coolers are in the same place.

Ok few recommendations:

1) Get the H50 rather than the H70, some tests actually showed the H70 being worse!
2) Make sure you get two fans for the H50 (push/pull config).
3) Its a nice case but £129 is a lot for a mid case especially if you're only using a H50. So look at other cases like the Antec 902, Xigmatek Utgard,
4) Use money saved on the case to get a Corsair/Seasonic PSU. These are widely accepted as the best/most reliable PSUs

:)

As for the VAT increase, some places will be offering up to 20% off the full price till end of January, meaning in some cases you wont even be paying the VAT at all.

Agree with spending less on the case but I'd put the extra cash towards the graphics card. 6950 if you can afford it, otherwise 6850/70 or GTX 460.

Is there H50/H70 really worth it? Reviews I've seen show they are no better than air cooling. If I look at it critically then it really is just a heatsink with a fan on it. Sure it uses watercooling, but the fins on the radiator are just the fins you would normally get on a heatsink. Nothing I've read makes me think it's better than air cooling.

I will go for the H50 with two fans, what do you recommend? I don't like the look of the Antec 902, but the Utgard looks ok, i take it the H50 will fit easily? I heard the the Antec PSUs are great and not much different from Corsair.

Antec use Seasonic = Fine!

Yate Loons for the fans?

Get the CM690 II instead of the Utgard.

I have the Utgard and the H50 fits nicely on the rear 120mm fan slot.

Best way to set the H50 is so that the two fans act ultimately as an intake and good fans fall into two categories:

Best airflow
Quietest

Generally accepted as the best compromise are Vipers and/or Apaches (both by Akasa).

EDIT: Link showing Utgard is better cooling solution to CM690

The overall basic design always looks to me to be essentially a megahalems with long flexible heat pipes

The Utgard may be alittle better at cooling but when it comes to looks the 690 beats it, so i will go with that. What hard drives should i get? i need one for my OS and one for back up and storage.

The upcoming VAT increase on a purchase of £400 incVAT is massive £8.51, really worth panicing over...
