Pc has been running sweet for ages, recently it has been playing up abit. Due to dodgy GFX which is now RMA I used to have to install GFX drivers and then coolbits and back off the clock speeds. Lovely job, now all was fine untill the 94 and above drivers came out. Everytime I would apply coolbits the puter would hang like a div when trying to access the GFX controll panel, to make things worse it then causes the whole puter to basically stop on entering desktop. It would sorta sit there and eventially load after about 5 minutes. So i decided I have had enough and RMA'd the dodgy card, in the mean time i swept out the old driversin safemode, all Nvidia, removed the Chipset drivers the lot. Installed the lastest WHQL drivers, all has been fine. Untill last nite, I was playing WoW and I started to get artifacts really bad, popped to desktop, backed off the clockspeeds, back in, lovely job. All for about 10minutes, i had to back it off again, then again. Eventially the whole game just stopped, like a crash, managed to tab back into windows checked all temps GFX at 56is not exactly high, back in the game and same again, locked solid!! :( Thought right... by now the GFX card is 1650MHz and 560Mhz core, when It should be 1750Mhz and 580Mhz, unistalled drivers for GFX, rebooted safemode, driver cleaner, back into windows, installed the 93.71's, reboots, HANGS LIKE A DIV ON STARTUP!!! Uninstall GFX drivers No problems at all!?? Doing my sweed in now. Im sure its GFX related but not sure why its hanging?? Any Ideas Guys?

any ideas? just installed the 97's for the gfx, seems ok for now, still get sparklies in game but its not to bad. Still poor tho

It's quite weird. Can you give us your full system specs - specifically the PSU.

I assume the card has a direct connection to the PSU, and I am worried about some sort of undervolting/overvolting coming from that. This would have killed your previous card and is doing the same to this one...

Can we have a full list of your components.

its in my sig, enermax noisetaker 600w, I have monitored the psu, using speedfan, as I did orriginally think it was the PSU causing problems. Guy at enermax told me that undervolting is not a problem as such give or take 5%, its the overvolting, but all was good. Perhaps I could try swapping the 12v rails to GFX card?

ok AMD 64 4400+ x2 at stock speed (toledo core)
A8N32-Sli deluxe on 1303 bios iirc.
2xMator diamond max 10 16mb
2x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR500 pc-4000 ram at manufacturers speeds.
2xBFG 7800GTX OC at stock speeds.
Enermax Noisetaker 600W

Just had an idea, perhaps i should give it ago in 64bit xp, see if does the same, could be a corrupt OS?

Haha - didn't notice - I glaze over the sigs.

Try a different 12v rail. Try one card. In each slot. Try the cards the other way round. See if one of them is at fault. Do you have a second SLI bridge doohicky? Try that.

Good luck.

the one BFG is currently being RMA'ed, as its always been problematic. I think the GFX cards just dont like the OC tbh. But then it doesnt make any sense to why the pc locked in game..? Might reinstall the pc to see what happens.

MMmmmmm i have just tried to re-install windows, press f6 to install scsi devive, install the silicone Serial ATA drivers, setup winXP, choose partition to install windows onto, and all my partitions are labled Unknown???

In windows the drives are as follows:
c:\ drive is winxp proff 64 NTFS
d:\ is swap/page file NTFS
e:\ programs NTFS
f:\ winXP proff 32 NTFS
g:\ Media NTFS
h:\ Store NTFS
i:\ Games NTFS
j:\ Downloads NTFS.

is it because of the NTFS setup doesn't see the drives?? Can't believe that, other wise I wouldn't of been able to install XP Proff when I did. When I do press the down arrow to select partition, nothing happens, press up arrow, the PC blue errors and give me the Page fault in non paged area. Any ideas? What am I doing wrong?

but i dont get any errors in 64bit windows, I think there must be some corrupt files in XP Proff 32, hence the errors. Its always the Nv4_disp.dll that causes the stop fault. But not in 64bit win. I have reinstalled older versions of the chipset drivers and also installed some older GFX drivers, see how i get on.
