Getting rid of 4k?

So after a few months with my shiney 4k monitor I find myself considering getting rid.

I currently run a dual monitor set up, a Samsung 28" 4k monitor and a Hazro 30" @ 1600p.

I'm using the 4k monitor as my main gaming screen, and the Hazro is there for web browsing, movie viewing, etc. The main issue I have is the differing resolutions between the two, if I try and web browse on the Samsung I have to adjust the zoom so I can actually see things and by the time I go back to the Hazro its now so large that I have to zoom out again. It doesn't sound like a massive issue, but its annoying to the point that I'm starting to believe that 4k isn't currently worth it for me. Also with only a pair of 780's in SLI I've not really got the setup needed to run top titles at 4k resolution without low frame rates or large amounts of stutter.

Has anybody else been in the same position? Or am I thinking like a crazy man?

Cheers

Surely the only true gadget geek option is to get rid of the Hazro and get another 4k monitor, no more needing to change your zoom levels.

Doubt that will happen without considerable investment in a couple of new graphics cards. I also don't think I could cope with the idea of another Samsung monitor on that **** budget stand that they come with.

On windows 7 or 8?

If Win 8 I am sure you can adjust scaling independently for display s in the display settings in control panel... could be wrong though.

I did try Windows 8 for a short time as I'd heard about that option - I tried it repeatedly and it just didn't seem to work the way I would expect.

Think 4K is a better option at 32" screen size for the pixel ratio, but I could be wrong. I would like to try a 4K 32" to see, but the problem of graphics horsepower required for gaming would still be a problem. Like the idea of 4K, but.......

i'm afraid 4k monitors are here, but i think 4k gpu's are a year away.

most of the reviews of 980 gtx sli say the play 4k you have to comprimise on settings

Ok guys I'm gaming on the AOC 28"U2868PQU 4K TN monitor with a single R9 290 and its fine with older rpg style games like Fallout NV (yes it supports 3840X2160)and Dishonored (what a great game). Until I get more graphics grunt I'm happy to do this. Now I have just bought Alien Isolation and as it is more demanding I have simply gone down to 1440p and it plays fine on high settings (not tried ultra yet ). I was gonna get a 1440p ips screen but I was put off by the many reports of 'glow' and light bleed and decided to go TN 4K and have been pleasantly surprised. It looks great at 1080p, 1440p and stunning at 4K, once calibrated and with an ICC profile the colours look great to me (panel is 8bit+FRC ). Yes I understand folks who are used to Ips, pls etc wanting to wait for those panels in 4K, but, they will cost a small fortune and as for the graphics grunt, well.........I am happy I jumped straight to a 4K and have no regrets so far. :)

Hi, I think what you mean is once you have tried a 120hz+ screen you feel you can't go back to 60hz, its a backwards step. I feel the same about 4k when I have to try 1440p or worse 1080p. Of course I am happy at 60hz, because I don't know anything faster/smoother. :)
