Hi there,

Having problems removing an old ADSL marker off my friends telephone number. Basicly, he has never had broadband. he signed with bt broadband but before it went live he canceled, now he wants broadband he can't get it becasue of the marker so every isp thinks its a migration and require a MAC code.

Now I rang BT on his behalf longer than a week ago and asked them to remove the marker, which they said they would do

but the marker is still there, and last time it took me an hour on hold before I actually got through to anyone

anyone had this problem before?

this sounds like the kind of problem that only BT could fix, if they decide to do any work on that particular day.

Which part of BT did you phone?
Any ISP should be able to get it removed, but it's possible he'll need to get the BT Retail ISP he went with to get it removed.

As a last resort, you could try emailing MrSaffron over at ADSLguide.
