How have people got rid of old media?

I gave all DVDs to charity shops. Ripped all CDs to storage, but am having an issue giving them away. The disks are essentially worthless, but it seems so much more personal to just dispose of. I don't really want to store hundreds of CDs for essentially no logical reason.

What have other people done?

Like audio CDs? Been in a similar situation recently and while some charity shops do take them others are fussy.

Another option would be to stick them up on Facebook and Gumtree for free to collect. Or your local Sort IT centre might take them but it depends on your council etc.

It is a logic reason though - without the discs all you have is a load of illegal music

I've ripped all my CDs, but then put the physical discs in a box in the loft. I still keep buying discs as and when I see them at boot sales, ebay etc.

I will keep buying Optical discs (be that CD, DVD, Bluray) for as long as they exist - I can play the content as and when I want, without worrying about which streaming service it's available on, on even whether it's available at all due to licensing rights, or it having been censored or otherwise edited.

gave hundreds of DVDs to the charity shop, then it closed. Mate does ebay selling, basically bins DVDs and CD because they're not worth the postage unless it's a box set/ltd edn type thing. Seems a shame to hoy them in the recycle bin but it's like VHS, they're becoming unwated formats.
