Getting seperate audio from a HDMI cable.

I have a mini-nes hooked up to my TV, but I want to put it on 1 of my PC monitors.

Is there a way split the audio off the HDMI and connect it up to a pair of speakers, since my monitor doesn't have any.

I use one of these to input hdmi output audio into my non hdmi receiver via optical. eBay as above for hdmi audio extractor.

it’s just a small box with hdmi in, hdmi out, and optical/rca stereo outputs. Supports output of DTS and DD5.1 just fine via the optical.

I've been using one of these for 3 years now with no trouble. Cost the princely sum of £16 from eBay - I use it to feed an old AV amp with audio from the HDMI out on a Intel NUC.
