Getting seperate BT line for one room?

Hi all, I'm about to move into a new place with a load of people already there. I'll have my own room which apparently has a phone socket in there already (not sure if it works or whether it's bt etc). Basically, i don't fancy sharing the wireless internet connection with the rest of the house and i'd much rather just pay for my own connection. It's right next to the telephone exchange building so i'd be able to get 22meg BE unlimited or something.

So is it just a case of ringing bt and getting them to sort out a seperate line for me? How much hassle and cost is involved? Or is there more to it than that? Would it be a problem if there was already an adsl service registered at that address but on a different number?

Thanks

Mutiple connections int he same address isn't a problem, that's why BT put the 0203 number into service.

So long as the line hasn't been disconnected from the exchange then re-activation should be free, otherwise it's £124.99. If they attempt to charge you, give them a call up and say that the line was already inplace, it just needed activating.

Once the line is in, it needs a couple of days to be in service. At that point you can go ahead and order your internet service. BE usually take about 5-7 days to get the service up and running, but some have had it in less.

Hope this helps.

yes you can have seperate BT line just for your room, even u can have 10 lines if you want, BT wont care.

that phone socket in your room is probably an extension line. £125 for new line (less if u sign up 18months contract)

it's phyiscally impossible to have 2 ADSL services on one line at same time

there doing fresh installs for £35 at the moment. ive just ordered one

i find that hard to believe when bt wanted to charge me £116 just to move my existing 2nd line from upstairs to downstairs
but if its true get it asap at that price :o
