Getting serious about coffee

I'm in the process of redoing the kitchen so I thought I would treat myself to a good coffee machine which will last for years

At present I am looking for just the coffee machines, unless there is a great matching grinder I need to look at. Budget £200-300 ish not including a grinder. I mainly drink cappuccino and expresso so something that could do this would be great. I was looking at Gaggia Classics but is there anything else worth considering?

edit:- Actually some suggestions of some good coffee outlets would be most appreciated.

Good local independent shops in your town would be Bonds (behind loch fyne) & one behind the co-op by the river (can't remember the name)
