ugh, this is getting ridiculous. In the last month we've had our sites ripped off relentlessly.

Firstly,

Ours

Rip number 1

Rip number 2

Then only a couple of weeks ago we launched this

...which has already been ripped here

I'm thinking of putting in some hidden javascript into jQuery so we can control some of the content remotely. In fact the Coffe site left a link to the original stats javascript on our server, so there's a possibility of doing something there - perhaps a javascript alert saying "Free coffee all weekend" in Italian ;)

Any other ideas much appreciated!

Nice site.
Bury something in your javascript that checks the host and changes the content?
It probably wont last long after they spot it. More ammusingly, you could make the javascript change random letters on the page?

Link doesn't work.

Still, I can imagine this must be very annoying. If it's any consolation I really like your sites. Both look brilliant!

Ah, looks like my strongly worded email to them might have worked! It was up an hour ago before I sent the email.

Cheers for the compliments :)

I don't understand what you hope to achieve. You can copyright logos, but hardly design. Good design is copied EVERYWHERE...

As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

But its not just the design they are stealing here. They seem to be copying the actual code etc, because as Sagalout says they have left JS linked to Sagalout's companies server in their code. And in anycase its IP copyright infringment.

That's fine, we don't mind people taking inspiration - we even put a tutorial on our blog showing how we built our iphone site. Its another matter entirely when someone, especially another agency, does a file>save as and copies all your source code, flash, charges the client for your work and doesn't even have the intelligence to remove the original google analytics code!

being a developer myself for 10 years i've seen this kind of thing happen myself....pretty low if you ask me. It's true, good design and functionality is there to serve as an inspiration but to out and out copy someone and take the credit is just lazy and just **** behaviour. These people are making money and a name off of their hard work.
I'd be on the phone asap expressing my disgust to the company who copied and their client(s) (which it looks like you've done!).

On a side note, just playing with your 'iphone' site on my ipod touch Sagalout. Very nifty. Simple but effective. :)

No, 404 is page not found, 403 is forbidden access, and appears when you go to a directory without an index/home file.

...

that's totally what I meant and got my post mixed up. I meant they have restricted access, they may not have deleted the content..

That site said:
Server Error
403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

lol, those sites are basically copy + paste with a different logo and main image :P

I really should look into JavaScript as I come across cool effects that look as if they've been made in Flash only to find they have not :O

very nice sites sagalout.

I like them a lot

People ripping your hardwork is a problem. Perhaps find a way to protect your javascript, there are encoders around, which makes the task of copying a lot harder.

You guys look as though you know how to work Jquery very well.
