Arms reach from mouse
OK so i posted a stupid thread earlier where by I was simply getting frustrated.

But now, after installing Win 7 64 and steam, i go to check and install a few windows updates, watching the downloading part got to 25% or so, then sprung up with complete! Awesome... or not :/

Then as i moved the mouse... BSOD

reboot, POST says: Detecting drives | (with the '|' rotating) endlessly.

Restart, go into BIOS and the spanking new SSD is nowhere to be found!?!

Any ideas guys? Or is it ker-nackered?

Try a different SATA port in the mobi , different SATA lead and different SATA power lead - just to rule out port, power or lead issues

Roffle :p, thanks Buchanan0204, might just do that!

I spent all weekend debating whether to just abandon PC's after just getting back into it, and was going to return the SSD unopened. But decided quittings for quitters and keep it. Just used a nice new Win7 OEM key too that i would have sold if it was not for the crappy drive

lol coming to a MM near you soon me thinks... not the SSD though, thats going for a refund methinks

All I can think of is that it's faulty. RMA.

I guess you could try installing Windows 7 from fresh? See if it isn't Windows corrupting.

I would if the drive was showing up in BIOS but its not

In the morning i may try updating firmware, does that affect my warranty?

And then updating BIOS (unsure if there is one)

After that if I can't think (or get any suggestions) of anything else, I'll have a little cry to myself and ring OcUK

Not that I'm condoning you keep the stupid thing. However!

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? You wont be able to update the firmware if it's not being recognised by the PC at all. It wont effect the warranty either, they actually encourage you to upgrade. Not that I've ever noticed a difference in performance or stability from any firmware upgrade.
