I took a suit to be dry cleaned and have the trousers repaired as there was a split in the seam.

Picked the suit up but when i got home they'd only given me the jacket and not the pants. I gave them a call and they're insistant that they gave me everything and the pants must have dropped out on my way home (it was on a hanger in one of those clear plastic covers as they wouldn't take my suit carrier).

I'm pretty certain that this wouldnt have happened but since i didn't check the suit when i picked it up it's my word against theirs and i don't think i have a leg to stand on.

I got married in this suit and since Hugo Boss don't sell suit trousers seperately, therefore i thought that i either have 3 options

1 - Buy some contrasting pants - Don't really want to do this

2 - Try and find some off the shelf pants that are as close a match as possible

3 - See if a tailor can make me a set of pants in a very similar fabric

The suit is a light grey with a slight pinstripe.

Any thoughts on the best option? I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount.

Not sure why you are worried about pants... Just wear your trousers over the top and no one will know ;)

Never heard of a pair of pants coming with a suit, might be a hugo boss thing

I really wouldn't worry, so long as the trousers and jacket match what's the problem. Only you will know, but I get that's kinda annoying.

Perhaps you could send them an email and ask if you can buy direct (probably say no though)

Get yourself to a tailors and see if they can match the jacket fabric. If not, time to buy a new suit for £500-£600ish from Hugo Boss.

Did you walk from the dry cleaners? If so, surely it wasn't that far. Retrace your steps and check if anything has been handed in? Not many people would walk off with another man's trousers.

I've matched trousers with a jacket once before, but I think I got lucky. I had a 100% wool suit from M&S so I wore the jacket into town and luckily found some 100% wool trousers which matched almost perfectly. This was a black suit though - light grey with a small pin stripe is going to be very hard to match, even for a tailor.

Don't wear it with contrasting trousers. You may be able to use the jacket as a blazer with jeans but it would depend on the pinstripe (pinstripe jackets + jeans = no no!).

Yeah i walked back, it was down Deansgate in Manchester so a very busy street, i'm fairly sure that had they fallen out someone would've picked them up and told me about it.
