Getting the most from my RAM?

Hi guys i have this ram:

Im doing my overclocking on the cpu at the moment and at 4.0 my ram is only at the 1600's clearly not making the most of its 1866 rating, just wondered is there a way to get it to 1866 or is it bottle necked by the processors capability

not at the moment its running way under spec, ive just used xmp profile and now when i set the multi at 21 and bclk at 180 my ram can either be 1500ish or around 2000ish if its rated at 1866 then can i hit the 2000 or is 1500 my cap?

You should be able to oc that memory to 2000 looking at your m/b. (i wouldn't go up to that though)

try to turn down the multiplier on the cpu and then push the frequency up.

tried but at 20 multi the blck needs to be 200 tog et 4.0 which isnt being stable, perhaps if i try 19 multi and 210 bclk or whatever but the RAM would still probably be to much under or over rating

its just wierd since a i7 920 an asus p6t and dominator ram is such a common setup so i thought it would be easy to balance 4.0 OC with the RAM, but it seems in all the configurations of 4.0 the RAM will always been running under speed or over

set your UCLK to 3732 (or next higher) and then your dram frequency to 1866 and leave your dram timings on auto until you can get that to booot.

if i understand correctly....

yup has a little more to it further down for ram settings though

the ram speeds change depending on the base clock of the processor since they are linked so to get the 1866 setting i will need to compromise processor speeds

i dont really understand what they are saying in that quote : /

i cant get the option of 1866 unless i lower my base clock the processor the uncore is on auto i think, ill check in a sec

uclk freq is on auto if thats what you meant, but at a 20x200 4.0 the ram has to be around 1600 : / rather than my 1866

See below for the BCLK configuations that must be used to attain DDR3 at 1866MHz on the P6T Deluxe. I imagine it's the same for your P6T. Information from here.

So it looks like you're going to have to drop your BCLK to ~187 to get rated 1866MHz. But that would drop your 920 to 3.7GHz. You have good quality RAM though which should OC no problem to 2000MHz if you loosen the timings - you may need to up some voltages though if the system is not stable (memory and QPI/DRAM for instance).

thanks ive found the option of 1866 but to get this i sacrifice 0.4-6 cpu speed and im not sure which is the better to have : /
