Getting the Windows 11 look in 10….

I'm thinking if i should upgrade to Windows 11 obviously i can't through windows as the CPU isn't supported (i5-6600K) That's the only thing that stopping me. If i do upgrade will I still get all security updates etc.. Has anyone upgraded that has the i5-6600k?

I'm 4 months into using 11 on my 4790K (as per the earlier posts in the thread) I've had no problems and am getting regular updates with no issues.

I've updated my i5-6600 media system again with no problems.

That sounds good then, I read way back that Microsoft might not include security updates if you bypass the checks. of course that won't matter when Microsoft stops supporting windows 10. But I wanted to make sure if I do it now that I wil get updates.

Not of to a good start, i thought i would make a stsrt and make the iso but i can't create it as i get a error message.

Seems like Microsoft have made changes to their latest ISO to prevent 3rd parties

Have you checked that rufus is up to date?

Did you download the ISO through Rufus or through the Windows 11 Microsoft page?

If through Rufus download the ISO from the Microsoft store then use rufus to burn it

what were you doing when the error happened? shouldn't be using any service so the error doesn't make sense?

if you screenshot each step that helps us help you.

I was just following the steps where you click on the download where you select windows 11. Yes Rufus is updated. I will ckeck if i can do it through the Microsoft page.

I used the latest Rufus which was v4.something. It didn't have the option to download in Rufus, I found the iso via the Rufus website and downloaded it manually from Microsoft, then picked that file in Rufus.

Reading a bit futher Microsoft may have blocked IPs to stop Rufus being able to download the ISO\Files

Looks like an issue with Google Chrome. Just tried using Edge and it's downloading from the Microsoft website.
I had this same problem, again I was using chrome at the time.

Worked fine for me on Firefox.

Tbh, I've had numerous problems downloading various files with Chrome, I've gone back to Firefox and haven't had any issues since.

I think my computer is having a off day I started the windows 11 install it seemed to be going OK I picked clean install then the message saying making sure you're ready to install. Checking for update. Then a message came up saying what needs your attention: Windows will remove some optional features you may need to add them in settings after the install is complete. I pressed ok next message said ready to install I clicked install then a message saying Windows 11 install failed.

Are you trying to update from Windows 10?

If so, I'd suggest you set your BIOS to boot from the USB flash drive (or DVD if you're old school!) and install it clean that way.
