I had to minimise the Battlefield 2 screen tonight and this was there...

WTF.jpg

I have never ever ever had that message before, I then Googled it and it said something about a Memory leak

I then looked in the Task Manager and BF2.exe looked like this...

Could anyone help me? I have 1GB RAM and a XFX 7600GT XXX
Why is Battlefield 2 using so much virtual memory?and was Battlefield 2 the cause for that message in the taskbar?

Thanks so much!

Problem solved

But on a more serious note, Battlefield 2 is supposed to be !THEE! most memory hungry game. I've never played it but most people say you need 2gb of ram to feed its thirst (especially in high, ultra high settings) I would switch Anti-virus first, Norton is a huge memory hog. You can get programs that are much more effective and use a hell of a lot less ram, look at Kaspersky, Nod32 or Zonealarm :)

Increase your paging file size (free) or buy more RAM (money).

+ splash out on another Anti-Virus, how much is Norton using out of interest? Unless you spend money you're not really going to be able to solve your problem. You could do the usual, close all unnecessary programs and try a ram optimizer before play? :)

So if I invest in another GIG of RAM upping it to 2GIG

Will that stop this message?

Should do, Virtual memory = ram. If you have 2gb Battlefield 2 and Windows should be happy (once Nortons gone... :p ) What Battlefield 2 settings do you use?

I only got BF2 today because all my friends play it

I have all settings on medium one on high that I can remember

Is this ok for my Paging Size...

I changed the INITIAL SIZE from 756MB to 850MB
Will that make it a bit better?

Heres the picture, any recommendations to what size I should have them?

change from 'custom' to 'system managed'. sorted. :)

Do you have yours on "system managed"?

And if I do chose, "system managed" will this message ever appear again...

try it and see. it's not as if you have anything to lose.... :p

Never used system managed cos the system hangs when managing it.

Set it to the amount of ram you have. I always set mine to the same as ram & dont have any problems. So min size 1024 & max size 1024.
When you get 2Gb ram, up the page file to 2048 ;)

Just seen this post, one thing I noticed, you are running norton, if BF2 is anything like EQ, turn it off, it realy helps, also with EQ 2 gig is best, prob the same with BF2 ?
