Hi all,

Has anyone had experience using the train to get to Dover Ferry port?

I'm picking up a coach tomorrow and my two options are:

Chafford Hundred rail station at 19:20, or

16:51 TRAIN Reading to Paddington 17:24
TUBE Paddington to Tower Hill 18:08 or 18:16
18:23 TRAIN Fenchurch St to Chafford Hundred 18:55

P&O Travel Centre, Eastern Docks, Dover at 20:55

17:51 TRAIN Reading to Paddington 18:21
TUBE Paddington to King's Cross St. Pancras 18:54
19:10 TRAIN St Pancras Int to Dover Priory 20:20
Taxi to P&O Travel Centre, Eastern Docks (don't trust the bus service)

Looking at the trains and tube if I go to Dover I get an extra hour at home in Reading. However, National Rail says there's some kind of problems with the line to Dover and I have more experience getting to Chafford Hundred. I'm guessing if anything goes wrong there are more options to get to Chafford Hundred too.

Cheers for any advice you can give. I'll buy the train tickets tonight.

Before I get asked if I can tie my own shoelaces, I'd rather post this and look silly for the chance to be warned there are always delays on the train to Dover for example.

Paddington to King's Cross is one tube about 10mins, and then about a 5 Minute walk to the Southeastern HighSpeed trains, that would be my choice.

Once you get to dover there will be taxis waiting outside the station, the price shouldnt be more then £5.

There are no issues with Dover, I'd do that. It's the best option. Use a bus from Priory to Eastern Docks - they are reasonably frequent.
