Getting to gigs at the Hammersmith Apollo

The gigs I'd want to go to all seem to be at the Hammersmith Apollo in london. I live in gloucestershire, and have never been to a live gig before ( - although I am 17!). I'd love to go and see Sigur Ros play.

Bearing in mind Sigur Ros are playing on a tuesday/wednesday, I live in gloucestershire, and I go to school during the week, is it at all possible to see them live? I could get the train to london on time, but getting back is the hardest part.

I'm assuming they would finish around 11pm, which means there aren't really any trains. I suppose at a stretch I could stay somewhere in london for the night and catch a really early train back to get to school. Has anyone been to gigs in london travelling from a long way away and made it work?

It'd be quite knackering and quite a lot of hassle - and you'd be lucky if you could find somewhere to have a shower etc. before you go to school. Try for weekend gigs, or wait till you're older :)

Doesn't sound like it would work to be honest. Unless you could just get the day off school, that would be the easiest way. Just bunk off school or something. But get yourself to a gig for god's sake though!!!! Try and find a local gig to go to; live music is the best thing ever.

I've done it for an in flames gig from cambridge to the astoria and back to college the next day (just)
Have also been to a gig at hammersmith apollo, managed to get on the tube and back in time for the train just after midnight

if you have a train that leaves to yours midnight or later you can probably get it, even staying right to the end of the gig

I wouldnt suggest the stay over night and try to get back for college
if you're going to do that just miss that day, the day before shouldnt be an issue
