Hi

So i need some help, in my lounge i have a normal ariel point and then Virgin cable (i only use the cable) however i would really like tv in my master bedroom and unfortunately we do not have any other tv points around the flat.

So i have a friend who is a ariel engineer and is happy to run some new cables for me but this starts to get messy as i will need to either chase into my solid walls or have a cable visible down the corner of the room.

Is there any other options for me, can you not get a wireless type device?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Sam

yes you can devices that can send HDMI by wireless if you want HD signals
http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-co...&qid=1423437917&sr=8-4&keywords=wireless+HDMI

Or can get much cheaper options if you only want to send SD video like this video sender

The obvious answer is a wireless video sender, but there's a few things to consider before going down that road.

1) The construction of your building, and the transmission distance, and sources of interference from other wireless devices has a massive impact on whether the system will work or not. Best case scenario you might get good signal up to 30 metre range. Worse case you struggle to get signal from one room to the next over a distance of less than 10m. Price is no guarantee of performance. It helps, but if there's too much metal or water or wireless interference then you're a bit stuffed

2) These things won't replace an aerial (correct spelling ;) ) signal. They'll only let you transmit the video output of your Virgin box* or Freeview recorder. It's illegal to rebroadcast the broad spectrum TV aerial signal, so there are no boxes that do that.

3) Basic video only units are fairly cheap (>£50) but the quality isn't much better than basic aerial signal. Quite a few of the Virgin boxes won't support both HDMI and SCART/video out at the same time. So if you want to watch TV in the MB without an aerial cable, you'll either have to change the VM box to video out or buy a HDMI splitter and a HD Video sender. However, HD video senders are way more expensive. The cheap ones (>£150) aren't full HD and even the expensive ones (£250+) use some signal compression. HD versions also have a shorter range.

If you're buying a video sender, buy it from a store that accepts returns.

An aerial cable to the MB TV will give you Freeview, Freeview HD (if the TV has a HD Tuner). AFAIK the VM Tivo box still doesn't have an RF output, so the only way to see that device in the bedroom is either video out (SCART) which also means messing about switching the output from HDMI to SCART or dropping the local to SCART (non-HD) permanently, or run a HDMI cable along with the aerial coax to the MB. You'll also need a way of controlling channel change, Play/Pause/FF/REW etc in the VM box remotely. You do that with an IR repeater. This can either be a piggyback device that uses the long HDMI cable as a conductor, or it could be built in to Cat Baluns (2x Cat5/6 cables).
