Getting used to a clutch in another car?

Does anyone have any tips? I just passed my test last week in a 05 Focus which i drove for around 25 hours in total, but now the car i am going to drive is also a Focus, but an 02 plate which is not a problem.

The problem is that the clutch feels sooooooooo different and loose compared to what i learned in and the biting point is really high which i hate!

Now my question is: what is the best way to become used to the clutch other that just driving?

;)

Just drive. It'll take you.....ooh, about 10 minutes of town driving to get used to it. There's no magic way around.

Or, if you're bored like me, just don't bother with the clutch, well, unless you're coming to a standstill or hill start situation.

Spend some time driving it in a quiet spot like a car park or an industrial estate, you'll get used to it quicker than you think.

I find it really hard to adjust to clutches that bite right at the top of the travel. But you'll not even notice it after half an hour.

i find that with learner drivers it takes much longer to get used to a new clutch and they make more of a fuss around it.

I hired a van to move house, and I say within 5 mins of getting it out the rental place I was fine with it.

Just don't *concentrate* on how different it feels, just drive instinctively :)

That is the only way to get used to it! :)

Thanks for the replies guys :D

I hope i will get used to it quickly as its rather odd having to pull the clutch up so high for the biting point it feels as if i am about to stall

I have to agree with Hate, when I first passed my test I had driven three different cars.

Two years later I drove my mates metro, then his escort, and my dads Rover 75 and they weren't an issue because I wasn't sitting there trying to feel for the biting point.

Go somewhere quiet and have a play...

Just plant your right foot into the carpet and then take your left off the clutch, should get you moving...

Oh, dont forget to take the handbrake off first.
