I have decided to give contacts a go again after having them for a short period last year, I couldn't not get used to them in this period, I had difficulty putting them in and also not exactly happy with the results when they were in.

Anyway, I play football four times a week now as well as badminton, wearing glasses is not an option really as I don't want to break them, so I result to having bad vision whilst playing... not the best.

I have bought some daily disposables, If I can get used to these I will eventually buy more permanent ones, I can get them in easier enough but how long should it take to get used to them, how long have people taken with theirs? One of my eyes permantely feels like it has something in it (no ****, it has! But contacts are designed to not to feel this way are they not?)

When I blink it feels like I have a bit of grit in my eye, I'm hoping it might go away? When playing football I dont tend to notice.

Takes a few months to get used to putting them in, taking them out and getting used to them.

You will start to notice less and less.

I still use daily disposables. I find them very thin and comfortable.

I was told to start with about two hours, then increase by an hour a day. But yes, it will take a while to get used to the fact that there's a bit of silicone stuck to the front of your eye...

Dont get permanent ones they are a hassle to clean :(

I switched to dailies and I am more happy

You can get monthly ones though, so you can sleep in them etc and change them after 30 days, what I'd want.

You'll get used to not feeling them soon enough. Soft disposables are the most comfortable just remember if they start to feel uncomfortable, yawn and it will put moisture back into them.

I've been wearing contacts for about 10 years now, I can actually hold my finger on the front of my eye ball without it stinging and can push my eyeball back into the socket about 1cm without it hurting, so you'll get de-sensitised over time

Only problem I have with dailies is if one's inside out, you don't seem to notice until it floats around after an hour or so, then have to take it out, generally where you can't wash your hands

Yeah that is a problem I have, never know when one is inside out!

Can you tell when in the eye, I thought thats maybe why it was uncomfortable.

Had contacts for years now and I still can't tell :p

I went back to wearing glasses.

I tried to take my contacts out 1 night while drunk, ended up scratching my eye, glasses are much easier in that respect. :p

I tried them once and although I had mega hassle getting them in the lady in the shop was happy that I could poke myself in the eye and not be bothered by it enough to worry so was sent home with a trial pair. Trouble was I couldn't for the life of me get them in and run out of patience and never tried again. :o

Have you got it inside out? Sounds like it. My advise would be to go back to the place you got them and ask them if they could do a re-teach. Just so you know that you have got it right.

You can tell by when you wear contact lenses inside out because there is a slight discomfort because the lenses do not fit properly onto your eyes. Another way to tell without even placing them in your eyes is to hold the bottom curve of the lens on one finger. If you have a perfect half circle without any edges sticking out then the contacts are fine. If it is a half circle shape with the edges sticking out, then the contact lens is flipped inside out.

I've just changed from monthly ones that you take in and out most days to continuous wear monthlies. Took a few days, but I can't even tell they're in now, they're much more confortable then my previous ones. Can't say i've tried daily disposables though.

Really? I got used to them straight away, had no problems taking them in and out smoothly, even for the 1st time in the shop.

I occasionally find I end up with one that just refuses to go in for a good few tries, then I pause for a bit and it'll go in.......Think I may just be rushing it some time :)

To test if it's resting the right way, I lie the lens on the edge of the palm of my hand and squeeze gently, if it tries to pop 'out' then it's the wrong way, if it folds up over itself, it's the right way around :)

Probably doesn't make any sense but hey :D

My contacts have "123" written by the edge, so if it reads "321", i know its inside out. Maybe yours does too? To check, place the lens on the tip of your forefinger and hold above eye level; you are looking at the bowl of the lens from the outside. :)

No such thing unfortunately, i know the ones youre talking about but you still have to take them out for at least 1 day out of 7. Your eyes wont (healthily) take having them in for 30 days.
