Getting Wii online

My girlfriends folks want to get their Wii online but they dont have a wireless network.

Can they just use a blue tooth dongle stuck in the pc and connect via ICS ?

Quick response would be ace thanks a lot

bluetooth wouldn't work, but a wireless b/g adaptor and ics should do it

is it possible to just get a wireless network version of one of the blue tooth dongles and jsut use that then ?

Aye the Wii isn't as fussy as the DS and doesn't need the official dongle.

im still not 100% what im looking for could you point one out to me on OCUK obviously cant be on a competitor.

dont u need a wireless gateway or router or whatever to use one of them tho ?

ICS acts like a router while your PC is on (for all intents and purposes) for both the PC and wii.

You have to set up an ad-hoc network between your pc and the Wii, that way you don't need a router.

Bought a wireless usb dongle and can't get it to work. Has anyone actually managed to get a wii connected through a 3rd party dongle?

you dont put the dongle in the wii. it goes in tthe pc... the enable sharing on your pc net settings.com

Yeah I know the dongle goes into the pc, tried enabling ICS and can't get it to work. Wanted to know if people had succeeded with third party dongles though.

I used a netgear Dongle for a while back.. Was a right pain getting the Ad-hoc setup but it did work.. just wasnt all that great. Seemed to drop connection a lot.
