Lo all,

I've rescued an old laptop from the IT scrap head, just to mess about with different distros etc

Anyhow, i've installed 8.10 done all the updates but the enable wireless is greyed out in the network manager.

It's in intel pro/wireless bg2200 in there, i'm currently trying to follow this guide to install ndiswrapper

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=9454

any ideas?

Well something very strange has just happened, just to make sure the wireless card was working ok i shrank the ubuntu partition and installed xp in the unallocated space. Got the wireless card working in xp and i've just rebooted back in ubuntu and it came up asking me to use my wireless password and the wireless is now working

How the heck has it started working?

Edit: I did update the bios as well, as i'm trying to boot from a usb pendrive
