getting your blog viewed

Hi,
I have just started blogging mainly due to work, I have my blog set up but how do i get people to view it and promote it.

To start with....
- This should go without saying but start writing articles/posts and do it regularily. Nobody is going to read your blog if it's rarely updated. Also, the more content you have = a higher chance of someone coming across your blog via a search engine.
- Make sure your RSS feeds are working.
- Join blogging groups/forums and/or groups/forums relevant to what you're blogging about. Don't just pimp your blog out, join the communities and contribute. Make sure your blog is linked in your sigs.
- Get some incoming links.
- Get yourself out there quickly. http://blogsearch.google.com/ping

All of the above, but I also find the best blogs are linked to friends etc. This social networking propergation can be very powerful.

its about e-learning in colleges. Im hoping that the staff here will look at it as well as other people to get loads of ideas of how we can use web2 stuff in education. I plan to keep it updated daily on week days.
Where would i find incoming links from and how would i find blogging groups relivant to this
 
That's very interesting. My dissertation is all about Web 2.0, which does touch on eLearning. Looks like you got one more reader :)

Cheers, Were trying to get our staff more involved with technology, we have a VLE which they use more as a storage space then a VLE and now i have the tast of trying to get them not only to use that properly but also get them involved with blogs wikis podcasts ect. Think im going to have some fun with that.
Is your dissertation online?
 
if you go into your layout settings you will see add a gadget on right and then just pick blog list which will then be added to the sidebar

then you just add the web address of the blog within the settings

see my blog your info is up which when any blog gets a new post it moves to the top of the list

there's a few different way of doing it i use the Blog list which shows the last post from that blog

It gives you backlinks to your website. You have 5 links on your site, and if someone signs up to zeriouz through you, your link goes on their website.

I think I have done that. Added the code and got the 5 links on the bottom of my homepage, your link is on there.
So what do i do now to make this work to get more referals
 
Well you could write a blog post with a guide about zeriouz with your link in, add it to stumbleupon, add it to digg and post it in threads on forums where people are asking how to get more traffic ;)
