Getting your CV out there

Hi guys,

Seriously considering a change of career, I'd love to start a fresh somewhere in a new country but I don't think that's feasible just yet so going to try employment away from the joys of IT. Problem is I don't really know what I want to do although my CV is quite extensive with quite a bit of experience m different fields.

Anyway are there any websites that I can upload my CV too and actual businesses scour these CV's and if they like what they see contact me? I don't really want middle men contacting me and trying to put me in touch with so and so.

Maybe I'm asking a lot...any ideas?

I would suggest you shortlist the industry and companies in that industry you want to work for. Tailor it for just that selection and approach you job search with the narrow target. The shotgun approach is doomed to failure imo.

Maybe so but I'm a bit of a spontaneous guy and like new challenges. I'd like to see what is out there and I never thought about doing.

So back to my original question....

Not sure if this is relevant but hey,

locally we have this centre, where a lot of companies register when they need employees and stuff, and you can check through there. You also have a profile, where you list your qualifications. You can check for jobs that have your qualifications, and employers can pretty much get their ad out to people who are registered who want the same type of work.

Maybe you got something like that, I don't know. might be worth looking.

Find out what gadget this man was using and send your CV to potential employers? This is a great gadget. Not sure what it is mind but im sure it can send your CV

Plenty of agencies will want your cv to sell on

I found the most interest was from jobsite and monster but you have to a)complete the profile so it is 100% completed, dont just whack a CV up and a few words. b)re-upload/edit something every 3 or 4 days (only needs to be a minimal change). The agencies will look for those which are active first before looking at older ones (where people may have already found work).

Used to get quite a few calls from agencies each week, more so than applying for jobs myself.

Fill out profile on linked in, find people/recruiters/groups related to the area you want to work in - join groups, contact people etc..

This is very good advice and you should listen to this man.

Uploading your CV to a website is lazy and unproductive. Yes, it's quick and easy but I don't think you'll get what you want from it.
