Is it worth getting another GTX280 from OcUK? 220 quid is not to be sniffed at. The only problem is, it would mean a new motherboard, and possibly a new PSU. Specs are in the sig, i do game a bit and have a 24 inch monitor, would you suggest it?

no, it will probs be cheaper to sell your current gtx280 and put it towards a gtx295 along with your new gtx280, mb, and maybe your psu fund

I would not bother really.

I game at 2048x1152 and find even an oc'd 4870 512mb to be decent..I have a GTX 280 and am pretty sure i'll be satisfied with the FPS side of things.

Hey dude, I have the same setup exactly as you right now, I'm overhauling to i7 so I have an SLI capable motherboard on the way, so I bought the extra 280, however you're saying you only "game abit". You don't sound too sure about whether you game enough to justify the purchase ^^ SLI 280's are a fantastic setup, but don't bother with it if you aren't a serious gamer, gaming at 1920+ resolutions

What's with all the threads about whether xxx is "worth" it? It all depends on what yo are hoping to get out of the experience, and how much disposable income you have.

Personally I'd say that It's not going to make any visible difference in 99% of games, and it will probably be at least Q4 before you need an upgrade to maintain smooth frame rates at high IQ. At which point there will be a new generation out that will give you the performance you need in a single card without any of the downsides of an SLi solution.

If instead of gaming you want it for Folding, or benchmarking, and have plenty of cash lying about, then it likely is worth it.

Does anyone know whether the ATI cards due in March(ish) will be giving the GTX 280 a run for its money? I was planning to wait until then before I spent the £200 I have waiting for a new graphics card. However with GTX 280s at this price I am sorely tempted. I might well buy one tomorrow. But if, when the new arrivals come, there are significant improvements over the 280 for a similar price, I will be kicking myself...

I know one has to bite the bullet at some point, but I had planned on March/April, so I'll be gutted if I'm tempted now only to regret the decision.

lol im a convert, no upgrading for me for a while.

M8 i would expect the new ATI cards would wipe the floor with the current Nvidia offerings. However, with GFTX280s so cheap, and their ability to play virtually any game at max settings, i would suggest getting one, then possibly getting another :p

At 1920*1200 I wouldn't bother, personally. I had a GTX280 and it was just great for 1920. Couldn't handle 2560 so well though...
