"The new graphic cards released with the new Mac Pro models are NOT backward compatible with the previous Mac Pro, despite the fact that PCI Express 2.0 IS backward compatible with its previous version. The problem would be linked to the Mac Pro firmware (new one being EFI64, while the previous one was EFI32)."

I don't understand, doesn't it just mean you can't put a 8800 GT in the older revision of Mac Pros? Why would that be a problem?

Well if people wanted the better graphics card in their old Mac Pro then they are now "forced" (yes yes, I know no one's putting a gun to their head) to buy a new Mac Pro.

Good for Apple, bad for existing Mac Pro owners.
