How do these compare?

Currently running a GF4 in an old rig due to selling my C2D setup :eek:

Anyhow, im going to get one of the asus barebone AM2 systems and build an uber cheap gaming system.

I wont be able to afford a gfx card initially so im going to be using the onboard GF6150 gfx.

How does this compare the GF4 im using now. Suprisingly the GF4 does FarCry at 1280x1024 at medium details at about 40 FPS. Will the 6150 do this? Im assuming so as im thinking its better.

But is it?

ti has much higher filrate and defaults to lower dx level which is why your getting good fps.

6150 has more modern features though, dx9 support, HD Playback, Transparency Anti-Aliasing and hardware decoding.

features = 6150
speed = ti, due to lower dx level etc

I personally doubt it but maybe you could force dx7 and it'd be ok.

They build onboard to play movies not games, unfortunately its not equalivant to a proper card

You'll probably have to drop to 1024x768 or 800x600 to get a playable framerate.

Hmm, might have to increase budget slightly then and drop a 7300GT or something similar in there for now then

If you spend a little extra and get the gddr3 one its pretty nippy for the price. its available elsewhere for £55, but ofc I cant say where.

Yeah it would be the DDR3 one i went for. Failing that a 7600GS/GT

look on members market. loads off good cards going there on the cheapo. even a 9800pro will do the trick since its faster than the gf4.
