Sorry its taken ages to reply forgot i did this she is still looking for upgrades :) Just downloading a demo of Settlers: Rise of an empire to see if it runs as she saw it in town.

CCC says ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series

Her max resolution atm is 1440 X 900 on an HP Pavilion w1907v monitor

Is that a typo mp4, because I can only find a Radeon HD *3450*:

You do realise that's a dedicated graphics card right folks?? Too used to Radeon HD5870s I guess :p

So if anyone can spec a GFX card that can run most games all welcome :)

If you/she wants to play games on that PC then you could just buy a cheap graphics card and you will be able to play most games. It's a good PC really.

What he said, Spend 50 - 100 quid & it'll be sound.

As to cards, if you can stretch to it - this:

To save a bit of cash - this:

Or this if they're in stock.

Alternatively, see if you can pick up a 2nd hand 8800GT, or 9800GT, essentially the same card.

What power supply have you got inside that box? Can you let us know the power output, and any other details on it such as 12v Amps and 5.5v Amps? (if it has them written on the side - some do)

Freecol - remake of the old DOS colonization game. Dont need a good spec pc for this.

Civ 3/4 is also good.

If she likes the settlers 10th anniversary, she might not like the recent ones as they changed the gameplay (and not for the better IMO).

As long as she sticks with older stratergy games, mabe turn based cant see the graphics card being a big issue. Cant see that card playing Civ5 when it comes out tho, or the latest settlers.

might have to lower some settings but it's very settlers esque.

This. Can be had for 12 bucks on Amazon! Patch 1.1 removes drm and need for disc in drive. Patch 1.2 just came out. Also the venice expansion.

Why not buy a better graphics card? Could massively improve on what you have quite cheaply!

Cheers guys will she need a new psu? I have £100 max to spend on a GFX card

She said she would buy a new PSU IF the one in her computer wouldnt run a new gfx card.
£50 - £65 MAX PSU
£100 GFX
