Most recent ones which use SSA keys do not (GFWL key which registers the game to your account & is not transferable after).Do GFWL games need the disc into play once you've registered it?

Some do especially if they are SP only its all down to the game publisher.
Dark Souls does not need the disc in the drive after installing for instance but Batman Arkham City does as its SP only.
All of Capcom's GFWL games since Dead Rising2 & Lost Planet 2 in 2010 do not need a disc in the drive after installing.
Fallout3 does not either unless you run the launcher to change settings otherwise run the game exe & it launches just fine.
As a general guide most GFWL games made since 2010 does not usually need the disc although some of the older ones like Halo2 do not need the disc either as it uses a special MS online DRM.

Madness in this day and age
Arkham Asylum + GTA4 have patches & GFWL still works properly (Securom actually released a GTA4 no DVD patch in 2008!!). Arkham City workaround messes with your securom activation & you lose it as the game has a lot of internal DRM checks which are constantly active the entire game (why I bought it on gamefly in a summer sale for £4.49!! for no disc check anymore).GTA needs the disc and so do both Batman games. GTA you can get a patch, but I think the Batman ones mess the game up so best to stick with disc.
