What card should I be looking at to get 60fps+ in the latest games?

Price isn't an issue, but I don't want to be throwing money down the drain as I know tech moves forward so fast these days.

Or is gaming at this res still not viable with today's graphics cards?

It looks like a HD 7970 is the best I'm gonna get right now, when is the next gen going to be out?

I can hold off on buying till April/May next year if thats the case, if we are looking any later I'll go with a 7970.

If your going to buy now 7950 are better bang for your buck :)

If you want min 60 fps you'll need at least a dual GPU set up.

GTX 690, GTX 680 SLI, GTX 670 SLI, HD 7970 CF, HD 7950 CF.

The HD 7950 CF is the cheapest option.

If you want around average 60 fps in most games the HD 7970 1000Mhz + should cope. There will be some games that go as low as 30-35 fps settings all maxed out.

I used to wait around for next gen , ended up buying nothing for ages:D. If money is not an issue i would get a 7970 now as no one really knows when next gen is out , I recon next summer is earliest . Only a guess mind !

I might go with a 7950 CF setup as I've never tried SLI/CF before!

Is CF pretty well the standard now and supported in most things?

this, if money is not an issue.

a single 670 or 680 shouldn't be too bad either, and leaves you room to SLI at a later date if required.
