Now that i have my GFX480s installed.
I output via DMI at moment, new screen will have a HDMI input.

I guess i just connect my display via HDMI instead of DVI. But does XP support HDMI, or will i have to upgrade my OS to win 7.

I am hoping i get a higher screen res and refresh via HDMI..

Thanks

It depends on the card and monitor, not the OS, so you'll be fine using HDMI :p. Both DVI and HDMI can support the same resolutions I believe, so you won't see any differences as the settings will be the same. But the resolution and refresh rate is usually limited by the monitor these days.
