Hi guys, this is my first post on here so first of all hello to everyone :)

I was hoping you guys could help me out with some gfx card advice. I have been looking at this or this but not sure which to go for. I am also open to other suggestions but my budget is a pretty firm £260.

I got an i7 930 @4ghz, an asus p8-x58d-e mobo and 12gb RAM. I play games on my 24" syncmaster @ 1920*1080 and mostly play Total War, Civ and F1 2011.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as the offer on these cards ends tonight and my wife is turning my credit card back into a pumpkin at midnight :D

Agree with CinderzFTW wait and see what the 7950 are like and the prices. Normally the price should drop after a short period, maybe a month or two.

If you can't wait then the 6970 is a good card, if you can wait and the price drops close enough to your budget (300 or less for an "OCUK branded model") you will be glad you waited.

cheers for the advice guys :) I prolly should have mentioned in my first post tho that I am also a bit of an Nvidia fanboy so unless it is really worth my while going for the 6970 I will likely get the 570. Really not sure now

I cant wait a couple of months as my old card (gts 250) has died and I am down to my emergency backup 8800gt
