Will work fine, and adding a soundcard will be ok too as the board has both pci and pcie slots that will accomodate the appropriate type of audio card you go for.

I would wait a bit and get new 290x, they are just 100£ more.
Or get an asus 280x. A bit cheaper and similar performance.

Yeah the £240 280X is much better value.
