[8800] GFX card dilemma..

I'm so so tight on my budget here... and I need help choosing between these 2 things:

edit: I'm just gonna simplify it

GTX + £130~ mobo

or

GTS + nForce 680i

CPU = E6600
Gaming at 1280 x 1024

8800GTS + ASUS PW5 Deluxe + Seasonic S12 Energy 650W

8800GTX + DS3 + Seasonic S12 600W
I've really no clue what to do, and yes, I do want to overclock quite a bit.

Help!

How about GTX + ASUS P5B + Seasonic M12 ?

The P5W isn't really an overclockers mobo...

You can OC with it, just not as well as with the P5b and the DS3/DS4 (based on the 965 chipset). There has been some phenominal speeds with those 2 boards on the latest BIOSs...

Also did you consider the 680 SLi board? Supposed to be a great OC, and a good match for the 8800 series...

If I went with the 680 SLi board, I really would have to get a GTS instead.

basically I'm asking is it better to get a GTS and kick ass motherboard/psu or get a GTX with a not-so-good mobo/psu

going to be ordering in about an hour if i sort this out

What resolution will be running at? If its 1280 x 1024 then a GTS would surely surfice...

And if you got a GTS with a 680 SLi then you could add another GTS if you got a 30" monitor or something.

Yeah, I game at 1280 x 1024, but I've read a ton of reviews about the GTS/GTX and the GTX still comes out on top by a good bit on that resolution.

Hmmm.. =/

Hmmm.. =/

But isn't the difference 110fps instead of 90fps in a lot of games? Is that really worth an extra £130?

I'm still torn...

I edited my original post for a simplified version :p

The difference is probably that, but I'd like more people to give me advice here. :D

Personally im going for the GTS, from some reviews ive seen an overclocked GTS has performed the same as the GTX which is good enough for me.

That and the fact it doesn't require a nuclear power plant to use pretty much seals the deal for me.

Yep i agree with madmossy

Check the firingsquad.com review on the gtx, they have overclock results on the gts performing better than a stock gtx.

Personally, i dont think you need a next gen card to game at that res, a x1900xt or 7900gto/x will easily do the job.
