i just installed an 8800GTS in my system to use as a temporary card, however when i installed it and plugged the pcie power cable to it. i turned the system on but all it displays is the Gigabyte boot screen.

my specs:

Intel e8400 3.00ghz
4 gig xms 2 ram
Gigabyte P35-S3G
250 gig hdd
xfx 750 watt psu

any idea whats happend?

thank you

Maybe needs a CMOS reset. You can also try pressing Delete to enter the BIOS and set right whatever is wrong. There may also be a keystroke that hides the Gigabyte logo.

You may find that the Gigabyte screen is probably hiding some important information.

im sorry but how exactly can i do a cmos reset?

There maybe a button on the back of the board by where you plug your mouse and k/b in.

Or the motherboard should have a 3 pin connector on the board. You need to move the pin connector from pin1 and 2 over to pin 2 and 3.

i cant seem to fin any of those you said, ive read that removing the battery does the same thing?

The Clear cmos header is apparently right next to the battery and is labelled, although I can't find it on any internet pictures.

Some say you have to leave the battery off for a bit for it to clear the CMOS fully.

Did you try pressing Delete? F1? Anything?

The graphics is clearly working as it displays the gigabyte logo screen.
