i was looking into getting a new gfx card for mainly playing cs source. i was looking at the x80xt will this be a card capable of 100fps with default settings???
also is it capable of playing othere games well.

my X850xtpe (similar to the x800 but a bit better) plays it very well, a x1800xt would walk all over it, they are 160 quid, depends what you are willing to spend i guess

css is a serious killer,

your gonna need quad sli, (two 7950gx2's)

and at least an fx62 if you want an fps count that can stay high.

Seriously, it helps if you give us your specs, we dont know your computer specs telepathically.
For all we know you might have a 15"crt capable of 1024x768 or three 30" tft's.

yeah and give us a budget, agp or pci-e your current cpu amd ram

I have a 6800GT and it plays it well. Over 100fps easily. But before on the same card with an amd2600+ was only hitting 80fps. So as the guys say, you'll need to list your whole spec for them to advise you correctly. :)

Also bare in mind that altho most cards can run HL2 well, once you up the quality, especially HDR you will see the fps drop. Personnaly for online play I like a constant 100+ which my x1800xt cant do with HDR on.

That should be more than enough for a good frame rate in css. That is a great card and gets me around 100fps in bf2 maxed out at 1280x1024 so should wipe the floor with css. If you can though I'd try and get 2gb ram instead of 1.
