Gfx card for my ageing system

Having lost touch completely with the hardware scene of late, I'm in need of some advice with how to upgrade my system. As it stands:

Barton 2500
1GB RAM
Radeon 9700 Pro

The system is begining to struggle with games lately and I think the biggest culprit is probably the gfx card. I'm not really wanting to splash out on a whole new board/cpu/ram/gfx just yet, so I'm hoping to clock the cpu to 3200 levels to give it a new lease of life and slap a better card in.

I was looking at an OcUK GeForce 6800 GS for about 150 quid. Can anyone see any better alternatives and is this card overkill for the rest of my spec?

Thanks very muchly

Hit the members market sharpish and snap the X800pro unlocked 16 piper of this fellow member.

And thats the best advice i have given all year.
I got an unlocked X800Pro@pe from M&M myself a while back its a great card.

p.s.
Also put an add in there to sell your 1Gig and get 2Gig of Geil value. Its cheap as chips at the moment.

Your system @ 3200XP + X800Pro@PE + 2Gig = :D

I have the same but a 3200XP Barton and get 6007 3D Mark 05

Yep I agree with everything malc says - althought 2gig is not neccesary it will help out from time to time.
The x800pro should give you a massive boost, your cpu at 3200 is still preety powerfull - just shows how good the barton cores are to still be up there!
