Hi guys,

I recently upgraded my PC to a Q6600, 2gb RAM, and a 24" Dell monitor, I've not been playing any games on the PC since this upgrade as I've been studying for uni, but the end is in sight and I need a new graphics card to replace my aging ATI 800XL! :p

I mainly play race sims like GTR2 / GTL / Race 07, all of which ran fine on my old P4 system with a 19" monitor at 1280x1024, but having a larger screen resolution now the ATI just won't cut it! I play other games on the Xbox 360 now.

What card do you guys think would be the best for these games? I was thinking about an 8800 GTS or if I could get away with it, a cheaper 8800GT.

Thoughts?

Hi, welcome to the forums

Im not sure if those titles support or benefit from Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering, if they don't then you'd be fine with a GT or GTS512, but if thats all you play and maybe dont want to be changing cards often then maybe just get a 8800GTX now, run at 1920x1280 and crank up the settings and Im sure you'll be fine for quite a while

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not one for upgrading every time some new technology comes out like some ;) I tend to upgrade my PC once every few years when it can't take any more! Theres some nice deals on at the moment and things seem to be dropping in price a little, I have another 4-5 weeks before I will be ready to order anything so the prices they will make my decision easier.

Think a GTX will fit in my case, but I need to check to make sure.

id recommend either a 8800gt, theres a good deal on the evga one on ocuk currently. or a gts512 if you can stretch to it. it all depends on budget though. if you can then yes a gtx would be great
