Gfx card or cpu?

Hi all,

Not sure what I need to upgrade but I just bought BF3 and it's not running very well. I currently have...

E6600 core 2 duo
4gb ram
Radeon 4870 i think

Do you think an upgrade to 7850 or similar would boost performance, or is the cpu the bottleneck?

Ideally you're after upgrading both of them.
4870 I'd think could run BF3 fine on low?

ive run BF3 on a little half hight 5450 and it ran ok

TBH BF3 is more CPU hungry then GPU, even at med settings it looks good so if you cant afford it get an i5 now and then get a 7850 or something later on.

Look to get a cheap I5/Ivy and mobo before considering a new GPU.

good cpu + bad gpu is much better than bad cpu + good gpu

I would get your new cpu+motherboard before anything else.

any sandy or ivy i5/i7 is great choice

Dont get any intel dual core or any amd qaud core because they wont be enough for bf3 online.

BF3 ran fine on my system when I still had a 4870 ( a few months back ).
