GFX Card squealing

Hi,

When my GFX card is under high load in for example Bioshock, it squeals. I've had that before prior to me getting a Corsair 520W PSU because I understand that noise is a sign of being underpowered.

I now have a Q6600 (not G0), 4Gb RAM, a WD 500Gb drive, and the 8800GTS. Apart from 3 USB devices - UPS, keyboard, and mouse - that is all I have running on the system.

Is it right that the Corsair should be struggling like that ?

Thanks

Sqealing usually odes indicate its not getting enough power but i dont think thats the case here as i run an 8800GTS with a Corsair HX520 as well

My 8800 does this as well. Not too annoying as in games I don't hear it, however, if I run a benchmark (i.e. no sound) you can hear it plain as day.

It's my second card and I can't really be bothered to RMA it again, as I'll no doubt get a card with the same issue again.

Apparently it's nothing to worry about though, it's just noise from the components I think and nothing can be done about it.

But you're not alone! Oh, and I don't think it's an "underpowered" issue as I run mine with a 700w OCZ PSU. :)

Thanks very much for your replies guys. It has put my mind at rest a little. Still can't believe how much power these components need nowadays.

The GTS doesn't draw that much power. I wonder what component would be causing the squealing. It's really something you'd think they'd pick up on during testing.

Im sure its the capcitors squealing. Ive heard of this problem before.
I seem to remember it being some sort of a coil on some motherboards. If you pressed them down individually, you'd come across the noisey culprit/s - then hot glue them down. :p
