Need some advice on a new GFX card. I currently have a GTX280 in one machine and x-fired HD4870s in the other.
Looking for some decent performance increase in existing and new games (battlefield 3 - upcoming, FSX/X-Plane and WoW current.)
Both Pcs currently run Q9550 cpus, one on a LGA775 Asus Rampage board, and the other on a ASUS P5QPro board. Both 8 GB RAM.
So, will the CPUs limit me if I buy any of the following :
ATi 6970 2GB
Nvidia GTX570 1.25 GB
Will these cards (both being around the same dosh) be capable at running most games on a 19 inch 1440x900 monitor (and perhaps considering an upgrade to a 1920x1080 23/24 inch in the near future.)
EDIT: Both machines run off Vertex2e SSD as well, so not looking to spend anything there. Might consider upgrading to Sandy Bridge solution in the new year.
