GFX card upgrade advise please [SOLVED]

[SOLVED]

First off thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Second here is my build:
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
CPU: AMD FX-9370 Black Edition @4.7GHz
CPU cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i with Corsair 120mm fans x2 pulling from 240mm radiator
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 32GB @1333MHz
GFX Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 1GB
HDD: 1TB 2.5" 7200rpm 8MB cache
Optical: Non
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Spec-01
PSU: Corsair CX Series CX750M
Front Fans: Corsair SP140 140mm Low Noise High Pressure x2 intake pushing over 240mm radiator
Top Fans: Corsair AF120 120mm Quiet Edition High Airflow x2 exhaust
Rear Fans: Corsair 120mm stock case fan x1 exhaust
OS: Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64

Third my question regarding GFX card upgrade.
I can't decide between the two cards below. I am leaning towards the Republic Of Gamers card.
Because I have been a loyal Nvidia user for some time and have no experience with ATI since long before AMD took over.

R9290-DC2OC-4GD5
ROG STRIKER-GTX760-P-4GD5

Thanks in advance,

This is a cracking card for £200 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-166-PC

@RJC
I guess my budget is around £225.

@jwilliamson47
I can get this for £220: Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 4GB GDDR5 Striker Platinum Graphics Card

And this for £205: Asus AMD Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC Graphics Card (4GB, GDDR5, PCI Express 3.0)

And I am looking at getting Corsair F128 SSD

With a WD Black 2TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (WD2003FZEX SATA 6 Gb/s 3.5 Inch 7200 2TB 64MB)

+1 for the powercolor pcs 290 for £199 with free game.

I literally spent hours looking at all the 290's but in the end the pcs+ has one of the highest overclocks from factory, one of the best coolers as well. Noise wise was quiet as well.

Have a look on youtube for tech showdown, he pits it against the tri x and the vapour x cards. Cant beat it for value.

It's a mismatch tbh. The 290 stomps all over the gtx760 and is cheaper which is really funny. The gtx780 was the direct competitor to the 290 never mind the gtx760.

Another vote for the 290pcs+ which out of the box is as fast as a 290x.

Ok so Powercolor Radeon R9 290 PCS+ seems to be an option BUT i have been reading about issues:
After a few benchmarks where I gasped in awe at my lovely new ultra level graphics I got down to some serious gaming and found that the card frequently crashed, even when under low loads (navigating the desktop), causing my computer to completely lock up and requiring a hard reboot. Judging from reviews here and elsewhere this is a common problem. There is a fix available but it requires flashing the BIOS. I have contacted Power Color customer services to see if I can get the BIOS update and await a reply.

Followed by

Powercolor quickly sent through the new BIOS by email (though unfortunately did not send any instructions). I successfully updated the BIOS but problems have persisted. I even tried the card in my old machine and got similar lock ups. These could occur at any time but usually between 5 minutes and 2 hours, irrespective of the load placed on the card. I am returning this for a refund. I will be purchasing an alternative card instead. I paid £270 in early August and the price of this card has since shot up. It was a bargain at £270 but other cards are now just as competitive (Sapphire R9 290 Vapor-X OC for instance). I strongly suggest that you thoroughly check reviews, especially at Newegg before purchasing this card. I hope this was simply a bad batch of cards and if I was looking to buy one I would wait for a clean run of reviews to establish if the problem has been addressed.

Does anyone know if the issue has been resolved?

Does anyone know if the powercolor 290 will fit in a Zalman Z9 case? Looking at their website I've a horrible feeling it won't. Also is an XFX 650 watt psu enough to run a 290? The Asus could be a tight fit as well. Rest of system specs below.
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
Intel 3570K (not overclocked)
Corsair Hyper 212 cooler
8gb Crucial Blastix 1600Mhz DDR3
Plextor 128gb M5 Pro
Western Digital 320gb HDD (Looking to change this to WD 1TB Green)
MSI Radeon 5850 (Obviously this will be going, just put it in so you can see full current system)
Case cooling 2 Corsair SP120's in the front, 2 SP120's in the top, 1 Zalman 120 exhaust

I was concerned about the earlier problems also. However from what i understand it affected the earlier models. That's part of the reason i bought mine from ocuk, they have a good relationship and rma with powercolor, something like a 72 hour turnaround. I a not expecting any problems however if i do have one ocuk will sort it for me.
