Hey,

So I'm getting myself another BenQ G2420HDBL 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black for myself to go with the one I already have for some awesome dual-monitor times!

As well as wanting a new graphics card upgrade, I currently have the following system:

Intel Core i5 750 OC'd @ 4GHz (WC by Corsair H50-1)
G.Skill Ripjaw 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB
OCZ 60GB SSD with 2x 500GB Samsung F1 HDs
Asus Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-E Sound Card
Coolermaster CM-690 Pure Black Dominator Case
Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 Mobo
OCZ ModXStream 600w PSU
Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit

So I'm spending just about £400 on upgrades, going to be a monitor & gpu - would I be ok with the HIS ATI Radeon 6950 1024MB GDDR5 ?

All in all, this seem like a decent upgrade with an additional 24" benq led monitor and the 6950? :)

Thanks.

i would go for the £199 2gb 6950, if you end up using eyefinity you will need the extra 1gb ram for it, get the msi one and unlock to 6970...

Do you mean the £209.99 one? I was thinking more Asus than MSI due to 3 year warranty instead of 2 - and the price is the same (Asus is on this week only).. This?

Go for a gtx 480 at 200 price point..... and 48 inches of monitor jesus christ you will go blind :)

Don't.

It's old, it's very hot, it's very noisy.

HD6950 is a good bet, there is very little difference between 1GB and 2GB @ 1920x1080 - but at larger resolutions the 2GB edges it.

It's also faster than the cheaper GTX560Ti at such res. :)

The Twin FrozR II is an excellent card, with great cooling - don't think it can be flashed though!

Think most others can be flashed.

i asked 5UB about this earlier, and it cant.

@ the OP: go for the cheapest revision 1 2GB 6950.

Yeah I went for the Asus HD 6950 OC 2GB version. :)

Btw, I made the order via Hitachi Finance and it came back as Declined! The order status is set to "D_HCR" now - will this be cancelled and I will need to redo the order? I'll do it again in my parent's name if so.

Get the 480's SE and OC it to almost 580 specs! deal or what!!! plus drivers more stable than ati!

lolwut?! Trollfest was the other way.

A GTX480 overclocked will be silly hot, and it will never reach "almost" 580 speeds.

A much better choice would be a GTX560Ti or HD6950, as already mentioned and greatly elaborated upon.
