Looking at potentially upgrading from my MSI 670 PE to something with more VRAM, as i'll most likely be modding F4 when more mods arrive. I was highly considering getting the EVGA 970 SC ACX 2.0 along with a Antec EDGE 650w 80 Plus Gold? As I currently have a Antec 550w Truepower Bronze PSU which I'm not sure if it's juicy enough to handle a 970? Briefly looked into ATI due to their cards having a lot of VRAM, however I'm slightly out of the loop with gfx cards.

Setup:
- 4670k
- MSI 670 PE
- 8gb 1600mhz

Umm it depends on the quality of the psu but antec is a decent name so i would be very surprised if you couldn't run a 390 but you can deffo run a 970. But i dont see how anyone can recommend a 970 over a 390 atm when the 390 is as powerful if not a little more and has more vram than a 980ti. I would deffo go for a 390 or a cheap 390x plus when directx 12 and vulcan are in use i would expect there to be much performance gains with the 390 over the 970.

Yeah fairly true, I use to run AMD years ago. Reckon it's worth going ahead with a PSU upgrade alongside the gfx card? This Antec I've used for years and is pretty solid.

Only reason not to get the 390 is if you want to keep the psu you have but I think it would be worth it to have a setup more likely to last longer.
Il stick my neck out and disagree with anyone who says 4gb will not be needed until the 970/390 run out of puff. You will need it.

Yeah, I think I'll most likely upgrade the PSU too. Highly considering getting a 390x now (MSI model perhaps?). I was also considering going for a 144hz monitor but have no idea if It'd have enough power to go above 100fps to make it worthwhile.

The 390x is very close to the fury pro I am using and it gets 100fps a lot of the time running 1080p but not at 1440p.

You don't need to upgrade your PSU for the 390 (and certainly not for the 970), though if you do want to, I'd suggest something beefier and more forward-looking than 650w. If you stick to the current PSU tho and get a 390, I wouldn't push OC too much tho; if 970, go full speed ahead.

390x/Fury, I would say aren't worth the extra $ unless you get some killer deal.
