i've just been given a OcUK GeForce GTS 450 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card low profile as a present. is this better than my 8800gt 512mb?

for 10 ~ 15 £ more u can get 460 witch is much faster graphics card 450 is low end gpu.

cool thanks. like i said i was given the 450 as a present so didnt want to be ungratefull. the question is is it worth taking my 8800gt out on putting the gts 450 in my pc?

sorry forgot to add that my 8800gt is a full size card not a low profile.

Nice little 'ranking' of GPU's by there average performance. They place the 450 2 steps above the 8800GT, so it would be an upgrade. However they advise, unless the new card is 3 or more tiers higher, it won't be a noticable improvement. As you have the 450 already, you may as well use it!

The extra video RAM will help a lot if you play at a good resolution also =)
