Recently built a new computer, everything working fine for a week or two and then suddenly, windows won't boot. Starts windows, gets to the loading screen and then i get a graphical glitch and it reboots and gives you the safe mode options.

Booting into safe mode and resetting the gfx driver to the standard vga driver will allow me to boot into windows normally...then when i reinstall nvidia driver, problem comes back.

Its windows 7 and a geforce 670.

any ideas whats going on chaps?

Full system specs? Tried an older set of drivers?

haven't tried older drivers yet, will give it a whirl..

Specs seems fine, it seems suddenly strange for it to suddenly not want to boot.

Do you have Lucid Virtu installed? Could try uninstalling that?

Can you try an older nVidia driver? Or do you have another system you can try the card in?

Try BurnTest (MSI Kombustor) and you'd know if graphic card is fine.

Would Kombustor even work without drivers installed?

tried a couple of older drivers, still the same problem :/

i don't have another system to hand. could probably cobble something together.

does it sound like it might be a problem card or something?

The graphical glitch does seem like a borked card to me, but check 100% before you go sending anything back.

Reinstalled windows...Nothing else...Things are working fine. Throw in the nvidia dvd and install drivers...problem is back :/

Not that using dvd drivers should really make it crash. but why not just use the most recent downloaded ones... And it sounds like your card to me anyway, need to try it in another system just to make sure.

I've tried 4 different sets of downloaded drivers including the recent beta release of a couple of days ago...and those on the dvd...i just wanted to see if anything would be different with a new windows install..just to be clean :o

extremely frustrating. ill try a couple more times and then try and put another machine together with parts..then i guess ill have to return it if nothing works :/
