GFX Failure?

Been using my BFG 8800GTS OC2 (320MB) for just over a year now, recently noticed very quick yellow flashes around the cursor when moving it sometimes after being idle for a few secs. Also thought I saw a yellow band across my screen for a fraction of a second, but can't be sure.

So, tested with ATI Tool and get a mixture of results. Sometimes fine, other times when first opening the prog and scanning for artifacts I get this:


There is a tiny yellow pixel or two just to the left of the cube. Any reason to worry? New to this tbh. I figured somethings up anyways.

The card is not overclocked beyond the factory overclock. I can tell you what that is if it will help.

I get exactly the same thing with an 8800ultra. Same pixel in ATItool everytime. Doesn't seem to affect any gaming performance though. Some one suggested to me It might be a mem issue.

Temps when getting the artifact are about 60 deg core. After a while it gets up to about 90 deg but has since it was new. Stock cooler is fitted. Core clock is 576 and mem and shader are 850 and 1350 respectively.

Have noticed some other glitches but only recently, does not seem to affect performance. Definitely looks like a mem issue, but should I bother with an RMA when BFG may just say there's nothing wrong? Is there a conclusive test?

Can anyone suggest a conclusive test for a potentially faulty card?

Also, will BFG be likely to send me an exact replacement if it is? I think this one has a 10 year warranty.

I'm in two minds whether to hold onto this card or not, since it does struggle at my res. They're just so expensive at the moment, what would be a decent upgrade to play warhead/grid full whack with some AA and AF at 1680x1050?
