GFX for 1280x1024

i'm a bit lost now i would get ati 4850 but not sure if i rly need it because i only play at 1280x1024 would 8800gt be fine with that res ? i love highest settings also looking forward to games like GTA IV and farcry 2 what would you get? i've got around 120 quid to spend

ATi Radeon HD4850 is the best you'll get for that price. It'll last longer if you only run 1280x1024.

if you want to play far cry 2 then i reccomend a 4850, for most games the 8800gt will be fine, but i doubt it if you want to play far cry 2 with eye candy =)

well i mean if far cry 2 is close to crysis i won't have a problem playin' it at 1280x1024 and highest settings with no aa or af

tbh, to save money, 8800 or 9800gt, to last a long time, 4850

4850, quite a bit faster than the 8800 GT, even more so when AA's applied.

currently i have 3850 256 in crossfire which should be around 8800gt performance in games that support it i think i might get 4850 on this week only

Can't see it struggling till around the launch of the next batch of consoles when the next big tech upheaval happens. Basically all major engines have to target consoles as well as PCs nowadays if there to be cost effective, so an engine that struggles on a 4850 @1280x1024 just isn't going to make any financial sense at all. So 3 years at least in my estimation if you don't mind turning down the odd setting here and there.
