Hi all

Recently got set up with 3xDell u2412's (1920x1200) and started playing with Eyefinity setups.

With medium detail I seem to get around 45-60fps out of BO2, but BF3 is down around 20fps on low detail lol!!

So obviously my aging Xfire 5850 setup needs an upgrade! I've got 16GB Samsung Green, 3770k @ 4.5 running on an ASROCK Extreme6.

Given I already have ATI, and Nvidia's pricing seems a bit silly, I want to stay with a Radeon card/s.

Goal would be 60fps on BF3 in either of those res setups.

So for £300 it would seem a single 7970 could achieve what I'm after?

Or 7950's are getting down to £200ish now so would 2 x 7950's be better (though £100 more).

Or is there something I've not thought of which would meet my requirements with more bang for buck? (2x6950's 2GB ~£300)

Could do with some other input please chaps!
Thanks
Neil

I saw your thread Rusty, thats what got me wondering lol.

Its tempting that an OC'd 7950 is within 5% of a 7970, and then Xfired is considerably more powerful, but then you could overclock the 7970 and add Xfire.

The 7950 IceQ card is only £70 cheaper than a clocked 7970.

So it seems something like:

or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

and see if 1 card is enough if not add an Xfire at a later date.

So it seems that if I was to look at stock 7970 then the oc'd 7950 offers almost identical performance for quite a saving. But I think I lean to the clocked 7970 as I'm more likely to get away with just the one card....?
